During the fifth city makers' congress, living labs were in the spotlight. Under the heading `The value of Rotterdam Living Labs', the city makers, civil servants, administrators and politicians together looked at the results and lessons learned of the broad urban design practice in the Netherlands and how we can embed this practice structurally in the planning processes of the city.
At the end of the morning, the 'Rotterdam pamphlet for inclusive city making' (by Robbert de Vrieze, Hugo Bongers and Beitske Boonstra in cooperation with the living labs in Rotterdam) was presented to alderman Barbara Kathmann (Economy, Districts and Small Cores).
In parallel, a motion has been submitted by Groenlinks, D66 and the CU to the council to anchor the practice of living labs in the political and administrative processes of citymaking. Update 14-11-18: This motion has been adopted.
